Ganderbal, July 22: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, on Monday chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district. The meeting was held at the V.C. Room of the DC Office.As per a statement issued here, the session focused on evaluating the current status of the scheme, addressing implementation bottlenecks, and devising strategies to ensure 100 percent coverage as per the district’s assigned targets. While reviewing the progress, the DC emphasised the need for an aggressive public awareness campaign to educate residents on the scheme’s benefits, available subsidies, and core features. He also urged officials of the Power Development Department (PDD) to improve their performance in meeting installation goals. Highlighting the importance of coordinated action, the DC directed the KPDCL, banks, and other stakeholders to work in close synergy to resolve any technical, financial, or procedural issues faced by applicants. The meeting also deliberated on the selection of a village to be developed as a Model Solar Village. DC Kishore underlined the transformative potential of the initiative in promoting clean energy adoption, reducing dependence on conventional electricity, and delivering long-term socio-economic benefits to rural communities. Reiterating the need for expedited processes and public participation, the DC called for collaborative functioning and enhanced outreach efforts to maximise the scheme’s impact across Ganderbal. The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Executive Engineer KPDCL Ganderbal, Lead District Manager (LDM), AEEs of KPDCL, AEE JAKEDA, and other concerned officers.
