Kishtwar, June 28: To accelerate developmental works and enhance public service delivery, the Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma Saturday conducted an early morning tour of Kishtwar town to inspect the progress and status of several key infrastructure and utility projects.
The inspection covered critical areas such as sanitation, water supply, drainage systems, town beautification and power distribution, among others. The Deputy Commissioner assessed the on-ground implementation and gave clear directives to expedite the remaining works. Taking strong note of sanitation issues, the DC instructed the Executive Officer, Municipal Council to ensure immediate improvement in cleanliness and drainage maintenance. He further directed the joint inspection team comprising the CEO MC, District Officer PCC, Assistant Director FCS&CA and Designated Officer Food Safety to launch a comprehensive town-wide drive for seizure of banned polythene, hygiene and sanitation checks, quality inspection of packaged and perishable food items being sold in the market.
The DC directed the Executive Engineer JPDCL to enhance electricity distribution by removing unauthorized overhead electric wires and relocating poles to safer, more strategic locations to ensure public safety and uninterrupted power supply. Addressing public inconvenience caused by infrastructure works, the DC gave instructions to the Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department to immediately restore roads and pavements damaged during pipeline laying and ensure their return to original condition without delay. The Deputy Commissioner urged the general public to cooperate with the district administration in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation. He called upon citizens to adopt ethical behaviour and environment-friendly practices to help conserve the local environment and support the administration’s efforts toward a sustainable and clean town.
