CUS to roll out DYD program

Srinagar, Oct 22: Cluster University Srinagar is going to introduce the landmark ‘Design your Degree’ programme at Amar Singh College and Institute of Advanced Studies in Education. The proposal was discussed threadbare at a meeting chaired at Vice Chairman, J&K Higher Education Council, Prof. Dinesh Singh at the varsity’s campus office.
Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Mobin briefed Prof. Dinesh about the various initiatives taken by the university for effective implementation of National Education Policy (NEP-2020).
Others present on the occasion included Dr. Kavi Arya, Professor of Computer Science, IIT Bombay, principals of constituent colleges of the university, Registrar and Controller of Examinations.
Prof. Dinesh suggested that all the five constituent colleges of Cluster University be connected in DYD process and a common web page be created with better WiFi connectivity so that students can interact with their mentors at their doorstep.
It was suggested that five groups comprising of five faculty members from each constituent college be framed who can act as mentors and coordinate the programme for effective implementation.
It was suggested that the team of Cluster officers and Principals of the constituent colleges may visit CIC Delhi University to have a more clarity of the programme.
Prof. Dinesh called for mutual co-operation between different universities of the UT for concrete action plan so that the programme is effectively introduced from the current academic session.
One of the members of the Council, Prof. Kavi Arya spoke about the project based learning and its learning benefits for the students. The emphasis was on the Robotics, embedded systems, microprocessors and software development, for which equipments need to be procured.
Prof. Dinesh underlined the need to bring flexibility in various courses and de-burden the students as per NEP-2020. He also called for tracking of student progression so that output of the university is assessed.
