Ganderbal, June 20: Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), organised a Legal Literacy Programme through Pro Bono Club, in four higher secondary schools including Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Kangan, Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Kangan, Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Manigam, and Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Lar, here on 17th of June 2025.
The programme was aimed to create awareness among students about their fundamental Rights, Duties and the importance of legal knowledge in everyday life. It covered a wide range of topics including basic POCSO, Domestic Violence, Cyber Crimes, Right to Information, Consumer Rights, Mental Health, Juvenile Justice, Copyright, Drug Abuse, Child Marriage, Sexual Harassment of women at workplace.
The initiative was appreciated by the school authorities, teachers and students.
Head and Dean, Deptt of Law, Prof. Farooq Ahmed Mir expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the event and underscored the need of having more such programmes as part of the legal education curriculum.
The event was organised under the guidance of Dr. Hilal Ahmed Najar Sr. Asst Prof. and co-ordinator pro bono club.
The programme was facilitated by Dr Imran Ahad, Dr. Ashfaq Hamid, Dr. Uzma Qadri and Ms Kinjal Bagdi Assistant Professors.
