CUK student speaks about Ambedkar in Central Hall of Parliament

Ganderbal, Apr 17: Iram, final semester student of the Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), achieved a feat by speaking about Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution, on Ambedkar Jayanti, in the Central Hall of the Parliament, in New Delhi.
Ms. Iram represented the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) at the national level programme organized by the Parliamentary Research and Training for Democracies (PRIDE) to pay floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar on 14th April 2023. The event was attended by veteran parliamentarians, including the Speaker, Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla, and students selected from various academic institutions across India. She was earlier unanimously selected by a three-member jury nominated at the speech competition organized by the Department of Students Welfare, CUK.
After the event, Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Om Birla interacted with the students. Later the students visited the Raj Ghat and the National War Memorial.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, Dean Academic Affairs and Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Prof. Shahid Rasool, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Finance Officer, Dr. Mehraj ud Din Shah, Deans of Schools, Heads and Coordinators of the Departments, HOD DCJ, Dr. Arif Nazir congratulated Ms. Iram for bringing repute and commendation to the university by being nominated as one of the speakers on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, in his congratulatory message, appreciated Ms Iram for her exuberant speech about Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in the Central Hall of the Parliament and said that this should encourage other students who also have a potential to speak about the leaders and on other issues, at different platforms.
Dean Academic Affairs and Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Prof. Shahid Rasool, said the DCJ student has made the department and the university proud by participating in the programme. He asked other students to follow the footsteps of Ms Iram and show a proactive approach in participating in such events. Prof. Rasool thanked DSW for facilitating her participation.
Ms. Iram thanked the DCJ and the university administration for reposing trust on her and said that she covered all the aspects of the life of Dr. Ambedkar in her speech and received huge appreciation from the audience. She also highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions towards shaping the country.
