Srinagar, Feb 13: The 14th two-day capacity building programme for the artisans of Crewel and Chain Stitch Embroidery of district Anantnag was conducted on February 11 and 12 by PHDCCI-Kashmir in association with Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom Kashmir, with the support of Department of Commerce-Ministry of Commerce and Industry Government of India.
The programme was attended by more than 40 Crewel/Chain Stitch Embroidery artisans from different areas of the district. The designer from the School of Designs Shahena along with her team of Master Trainers in Chain Stitch and Crewel acquainted the local artisans with the latest trends to put their creativity to productive use as per the market demands. She gave a detailed presentation on the latest designs in Chain Stitch art.
Shaheena and her team of designers explained to the artisans the importance of new and refined designs for export quality and also innovative design development and quality improvement. She asked the artisans to visit the School of Designs wherein they will provide them with new designs free of cost.
Dr. Imran from IUST explained to the artisans the concepts of marketing, the definition and scope of digital marketing, the different tools of digital marketing, and how to analyse their functions and benefits. He guided the artisans on how to create their own social media platform and explained to them the importance of packaging. The team explained to the artisans the various schemes that are being promoted by the handicrafts department for artisans.
While applauding the role of the Handicraft Department and PHDCCI-Kashmir for arranging such a wonderful awareness workshop, the artisans of Crewel and Chain Stitch said they enriched a lot and will adopt the techniques learnt in the packaging, designing and marketing.
