Jammu, Jan 24: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) working president Raman Bhalla on Friday asserted that the party has always taken a “leading role” in tackling the challenges posed before J&K.
“Congress very well knows how to discharge its role of sacrificing everything for the country,” Bhalla said while interacting with “aggrieved” people of Deep Nagar Ward 55 in RS Pura Jammu South Constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Today, the situation of J&K has become adverse owing to the anti-people policies of the Union government. Spiralling inflation, poverty, malnutrition, crime and challenges before the democratic values, Constitution and constitutional institutions, can only be tackled by Congress. For this, everybody has to play an active role,” he said.
Urging the Congress workers to understand the pain faced by the people, Bhalla said, “The history of the Congress has been to reduce the pain of every section of the country. This is our present as well as the future. Hence, our first priority is the country and the people.”
Bhalla said Congress continuously questioned the BJP government on inflation, unemployment, increasing prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas and also staged protests on these issues. “The government jobs are falling prey to nepotism and favouritism and the candidates selected for jobs are moving from pillar to post to get their appointment,” he said.
The JKPCC chief said, “The BJP government has no vision. It is cheating the youth and the unemployed persons, and doing injustice. Instead of answering questions, it speaks lies and avoids accountability.”
Bhalla accused the BJP of bringing miseries through unprecedented price rises for the poor, common man, educated unemployed and daily wagers and each section of society due to unprecedented price rises by huge taxes.
“The Congress shall undo the wrongs of BJP govt and present dispensation and will fight for people-friendly and various pro-poor policies in Jammu & Kashmir, thus giving major relief to the sufferings of poor, downtrodden and others,” he said.
Bhalla said the Congress, as a public party, has built up a robust grievances redressal mechanism at the party headquarters, where people can come with their issues.
He alleged that the ruling BJP was on a mission to disenfranchise J&K people with its selective policies and a coterie of federally-appointed officers, bereft of democratic bearings, calling the shots.
“The so-called Naya J&K of BJP, besides being low on the democratic mooring is also opposite to the idea of Naya Kashmir propounded by the Congress government,” Bhalla said, adding, “The downpour of fresh investments, job extravaganza, and infrastructure amplification is nowhere visible on the ground. Far from delivering on much-touted development promises, the people of J&K are continuously being denied their rights, and having a popular government in place is one of them.”
