Srinagar, Apr 27: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Langate, Sheikh Khurshid on Sunday called for taking everyone along and not alienation any section of society in the crackdown against terrorism, following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Calling for severe punishment for those responsible for the attack, the MLA cautioned that collective punishment to any section of society is not the solution.
“Such actions should not be supported in any democratic or civilised society,” he said, adding that many affected families have no connection to the terrorists and that their homes have stood for 20 to 30 years.
The AIP leader also pointed out that after the Pahalgam incident, people across the Kashmir Valley took to the streets in protest. He urged that this moment should not be overlooked, suggesting that it can be seen as an opportunity for positive change.
Khurshid said every elected representative and law-abiding citizen should advocate for justice and fairness. He also condemned the killing of a civilian in Kupwara and called for a probe into his killing.
Befitting reply must be given: Cong’s Pilot
Jaipur, Apr 27: Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday strongly condemned the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam and said that a befitting reply has to be given for this incident.
Speaking to the media, Pilot said, “This is not an ordinary incident. A befitting reply must be given for this incident. The way this incident has been carried out, the intentions of the terrorists are very clear. We have all said very clearly that the Indian government has to respond to this with its full strength.”
