Srinagar, Jun 13: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and General Secretary (Organisation) for Jammu and Kashmir, Ashok Koul, on Friday clarified that no powers have been taken away from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
In a strong rebuttal to ongoing speculation, Koul said that, except for the Home Department, all other departments remain under the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s direct control.
Speaking to the media, Koul said the focus should now shift to governance rather than political narratives. “The Chief Minister has full authority over all departments, except Home, which is with the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha as per the constitutional arrangement. It is misleading to say that the CM has been disempowered,” he said.
The BJP leader urged the Chief Minister to concentrate on core governance issues that matter to the public, such as the provision of uninterrupted power supply, improved road infrastructure, and delivery of essential public services.
“People want good governance, not political drama. The CM must ensure electricity, roads, water, and public welfare schemes reach every household,” he added.
