Jammu, Dec 21: Continuing to dominating prowess in J&K football circuit, J&K Bank edged past Downtown Heroes by a solitary goal  in the finals to win 17th Christmas Gold Cup played at Parade Ground Jammu.
The lone goal which proved to be the difference between the two sides in what was a see-saw summit clash  was scored by Prem Kumar in the 85th of the game.

The title triumph comes after a stellar show in the build up to the finals with Bank blanking Param Football Club 4-0 in the last eight stage following it with a victory against J&K Police 2-1 in the semis.
Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar was the chief guest and presided over the prize distribution ceremony.

Chairman Sports Board J&K Bank Syed Rais Maqbool congratulated the team for yet another title winning performance. “Our football team is synonymous with our  workforce across the enterprise exhibiting never say die attitude and bringing their A-game to the fore when it matters the most. Our players deserve all the plaudits and we will continue to provide them the facilities that keep them focussed and ready to compete with the best in the business,” he said.

Vice-Chairman Sports Board Sushil Gupta echoed the assertions calling the players ambassador of the Bank.
” It gives us immense pleasure to see our players perform at a top and keep adding to our trophy cabinet. Not only are these players ambassador of the bank who wear Bank’s badge on chest with pride and honour, our players have become role models for aspiring footballers in J&K,” he said.
