Srinagar, June 16: The Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar (Crime Branch Kashmir), has taken a significant step forward in a corruption case by producing the chargesheet before the Court of Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir. The chargesheet has been filed against Mohammad Shafi Malla, the former Administrative Officer (Policy) of SKIMS Soura, and Dr. A.G Ahangar, the former Director of SKIMS Soura.
The case, registered under FIR No. 08/2019 u/S 418, 420, 466, 511 RPC r/w Section 5(2) PC Act at the Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir, revolves around allegations of illegal activities and fraud within the selection process for the post of Professor, Surgical Oncology at SKIMS Soura.
According to the complaint received by the Crime Branch Kashmir, it was claimed that Director SKIMS Soura had engaged in unlawful practices by making an ineligible individual eligible for the aforementioned position. Additionally, it was alleged that the selection process, which had already been halted by the Hon’ble High Court of J&K, was fraudulently re-advertised by the Director to ensure the appointment of an unqualified candidate. These actions were allegedly carried out through the abuse of powers and misuse of official position.
Following the receipt of this information, the Crime Branch Kashmir initiated a Preliminary Verification, which ultimately led to the registration of the present case. After thorough investigation, the accused individuals have been found to have committed offenses punishable under Sections 418, 420, 466, 511 RPC r/w Section 5(2) PC Act. The evidence supporting these charges has been presented in the chargesheet for the judicial determination by the Hon’ble Court of Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir.
