Srinagar, June 16: Four Days Training Program on “Social Media and Communication Skills in Transfer of Technology” concluded on Friday at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K.
The programme was organized by Directorate of Extension in collaboration with Extension Education Institute (EEI), Nilokheri Haryana. Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. M.A.A. Siddique was the Chief Guest and Director Extension, SKUAST-K Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi was the Guest of Honour of the valedictory session of training programme.
The session was attended by Scientists of Directorate of Extension, Extension Functionaries of various Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s, Divisions of SKUAST-Kashmir and line departments. Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K appreciated and congratulated Director Extension, SKUAST-K Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi for organizing training programme on social media. He delivered paraclete essence of all platforms of Social Media.
He elaborated that the role of extension in rural development in transferring knowledge and information about new development in agricultural technology to farmer in such a way that the farmers are motivated to adopt it.
The purpose of transfer of knowledge to create awareness or increase the level of information to provide new tools to share, collect and publish contents, express and discuss view points and mindsets.
Director Extension SKUAST-K, in his address briefing about the importance of training programme said the social media is a lovely bird, if not tackled well in positive perspective can turn into an ugly animal.
He gave an insite at to how 70% of farmers use smart phones and we need to give extension advisory based on ICT and IOT. Explaining the role of social media in dissipating agriculture technology, he said how weather forecast advisories, spray schedules, disease control measures; spray of fertilizers and pesticides is being conveyed to farmers through Whatsapp and Facebook.
He asked the trainees to impart training to farmers using instagram and other agriculture social media websites. Dr. Aijay Kumar, Assistant Professor, Extension Education Institute (EEI), Nilokheri Haryana presented overview of the programme and initiated the valedictory session by welcoming the gathering.
