Baramulla, Aug 03: In an effort to curb illegal drug cultivation, police on Thursday executed an operation to eradicate wild cannabis plants found on government land at Goriwan and Gawas Sheeri in Baramulla district.
A police official said that acting on credible information, the police swiftly mobilized a team from Police Station Sheeri, which was joined by BDC Narwav Mir Iqbal, Sarpanch Heewan, Sarpanch Badmulla, and esteemed individuals from Delina Baramulla.
The official said that the joint effort resulted in the destruction of wild cannabis plants covering approximately 10 kanals of land, effectively thwarting the illicit activities of drug cultivators in the area.
“The action has been met with praise and appreciation from the local community in Narwav, who actively participated in the eradication process alongside law enforcement,” he added.
Inspector Mudasir Nazar expressed his satisfaction with the successful operation, emphasizing the commitment of the Baramulla Police in safeguarding the community from the dangers of drug cultivation.
