Thee Border Security Force (BSF), Kashmir Frontier, organized the Wular Half Marathon in association with the district administration of Bandipora on Sunday.

The event aimed to showcase Asia’s second-largest freshwater lake’s scenic beauty and significance, promoting conservation and sustainable development as a tourist destination under the logo “Save Wular, Run with Borderman”.

Runners from across the country, including brave BSF Bordermen, participated in the marathon, which started from BSF Campus Bandipora. The event was flagged off by Sh. Ashok Yadav, IPS, IG BSF Kashmir Frontier, and attended by Brig N R Babu (Retd) DIG, BSF Sector Bandipora, BSF officials, civil and forces’ dignitaries, and media persons.

Approximately 700 male and female runners participated in various categories, including the Half Marathon, 10 km, and 5 km runs. The marathon culminated at Wular Vantage Park, Bandipora, where Mr. Nizamuddin Bhat, MLA Bandipora, distributed prize money to the winners. Young boys and girls from various schools and sports academies showcased the rich culture of Kashmir through an array of vibrant cultural programs, reflecting Kashmir’s diverse heritage and talent.

Ashok Yadav acknowledged the contributions of district administration, all security forces, local civilians especially women and youth, media houses, sponsors and various local schools and organizations for making the marathon a grand success.
