Samba, Sept 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K vice president Surjeet Singh Slathia on Tuesday accused the Congress and National Conference (NC) of creating roadblocks in Jammu & Kashmir’s journey towards peace and development because of their alleged proximity to “soft separatist agenda” over the years.
However, he said, the BJP-led NDA government has “reversed” the Congress-NC agenda by taking “path-breaking” initiatives. “The abrogation of Article 370 that transformed Jammu & Kashmir and made it tourism hub from terrorism hotbed,” he said.
Slathia, who is the BJP candidate for Samba Assembly Constituency, was addressing public meetings in the district.
He accused the Congress of working against the larger interests of Jammu & Kashmir. “The two alliance partners (NC-Congress) are furthering the Pakistan agenda, which is why (Pakistan’s) Federal Minister is all praise for the Congress and the National Conference,” he said. He cautioned the people against the “machinations’” of these two parties which he said want to push Jammu & Kashmir in the “dark tunnel of uncertainty, destruction and devastation”.
The BJP leader said, “The major initiatives undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in Jammu & Kashmir have brought a discernible change during the past more than five years. This has become an eyesore for the Congress and NC who believe in boiling Kashmir and the politics of graveyards. On the contrary, the BJP’s commitment to inclusive governance as per Prime Minister’s Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas has fostered a sense of belonging with a renewed spirit of confidence among people in this part of the country, so much so that the political entities believing in separatism have also now realised the futility of their misadventure and shown intent to join the mainstream.”
Slathia exuded confidence about people coming out of their homes in record numbers on the day of polling to cast their votes for the BJP. “Your every vote will be support for taking forward the mission of Narendra Modiji to make peaceful and prosperous Naya Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
