Jammu, Aug 03: The Core Group of the J&K unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with two Union Ministers, convened on Saturday to discuss the party’s preparations for the upcoming assembly elections and to review plans for celebrating August 05 across the Union Territory (UT) in a “big way”.
The meeting, lasting a little over one and a half hours, included key BJP General Secretaries such as Ashok Koul (Organisation), former ministers Dr Devender Manyal and Sunil Sharma, and Vibodh Gupta. Also in attendance were J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina, MP Jugal Kishore, J&K BJP Incharge Tarun Chugh, J&K election Incharge and Union Coal Minister G. Krishna Reddy and Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh. The meeting was held at the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, late in the evening.
A senior BJP leader, who wished to remain anonymous, said the party’s preparations for the assembly elections were discussed in detail, and a report card on the ongoing programmes was presented.
“A strategy was also devised to present the party’s viewpoint during the Election Commission’s visit to J&K on August 08,” he said.
The BJP has planned to celebrate August 05 in a grand manner across J&K, marking the anniversary of the Modi government’s abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, which granted special status to J&K.
Among the planned events is a major rally from RS Pura on August 05, targeting the participation of over 30,000 people, with some Union Ministers expected to join the rally and other programs.
The meeting concluded with a focus on mass public contact programmes and enhancing various public outreach initiatives of the BJP ahead of the assembly elections.
