Srinagar, June 01: Thousands of people will get major relief from traffic jams as the much-awaited flyover at Bemina is nearing completion and will be opened to the public in the coming two weeks, officials of the R&B department Kashmir said on Saturday.
The officials stated that work on this flyover is progressing rapidly. Currently, the macadamization process is being carried out, and in the coming days, the black topping will be completed. After that, it will be opened to the public.
An officer who requested not to be named told Rising Kashmir, this flyover will bring major relief to the thousands of people who commute from this side . He stated that after the opening of this flyover, there will be no more traffic jams.
Currently, massive traffic jams are being reported in this locality, but after the opening of this flyover, there will be none. The Bemina flyover, which spans a significant portion of the bypass, is designed to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and enhance safety for drivers.
“We are pleased to announce that the Bemina flyover will be open for traffic soon, as macadamization is currently underway,” said a senior R&B official who wished to remain anonymous.
Mohammed Umar, a daily commuter, complained that for the last three years they have been witnessing massive traffic jams in the city, especially in areas without flyovers. He said the Bemina flyover will be a big relief for daily commuters traveling via this flyover.
He also hoped that the other two flyovers would be made operational soon so people in Srinagar will not face more traffic congestion.
The Bemina Junction flyover is a vital infrastructure initiative poised to transform the traffic dynamics in the area, providing a smoother flow for commuters. With a total estimated cost of Rs 31.49 crore, this project would make significant progress for the smooth flow of traffic.
The work on the two other flyovers at Nowgam and Sanat Nagar junctions is still under construction and will be completed by the end of this month. Similarly, these flyovers will be announced for public use in the first week of June. The work on these flyovers is being carried out at the highest speed so they can be completed at the earliest and made operational for the general public.
