Pulwama, July 26: The Inter-District Provincial-Level Kabaddi Tournament for under-14 boys concluded in Pulwama on Saturday with a thrilling final match at Mehjoor Memorial Boys’ Higher Secondary School, where Team Baramulla emerged victorious after a high-octane clash with Anantnag.As per a statement, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), J&K, and hosted by the District Youth Services and Sports Office, Pulwama, the championship brought together talented young kabaddi players from across the Kashmir division. The tournament was hailed as a celebration of youth, sportsmanship, and emerging talent. In the final, Baramulla exhibited outstanding coordination and tactical strength to clinch the title, while Anantnag and Bandipora secured the second and third positions, respectively. Speaking at the event, Director General of YSS, J&K, lauded the initiative, stating– “Such tournaments form the bedrock for nurturing future champions. Providing our youth with a competitive platform at the grassroots level helps unearth raw talent while cultivating discipline, teamwork, and a sporting spirit. The department remains fully committed to promoting sports excellence across Jammu and Kashmir.”The tournament was formally inaugurated by the Additional Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Pulwama, who emphasised the vital role of sports in holistic youth development and community bonding. The closing ceremony saw the presentation of trophies and medals by the District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO), Pulwama, and the Principal of Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Pulwama, who jointly commended the teams for their spirited participation and dedication.
