Rajouri, July 29: Minister of State and Chairperson J&K Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Saturday served langar to the devotees at the shrine of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah on the occasion of Ashura day.
Dr Andrabi participated in many events at Shahdra Sharief here on the second day of her visit to the shrine complex in connection with the annual Urs. She was accompanied by Waqf Board CEO Dr Majid Jahangir, Administrator Ashiq Rafiq Khan and SDM Thanamandi.
Dr Darakhshan attended the Ashura day event conducted by the Waqf Board in which she spoke on the highest martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the illustrious grandson of Prophet Mohammed (SAW).
“The ultimate sacrifice for the truth by the great Imam is an inspiration for all humanity. The truth makes one eternal and the falsehood only perishes,” she said.
The Waqf Board chairperson served langar to the gathering in thousands. She addressed the Urs celebration and requested all those present to “become the ambassadors of the spiritual message of the great sufis like Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah so that we are able to uproot the doctrines of hate, division and violence from our society”.
Dr Andrabi later formally took over the administrative control of Ziyarat Zikri Shah at Mangot in Rajpuri which was notified years ago and was not taken over by the Waf Board for years. The local population thanked Dr Andrabi by according her a warm welcome.
