Kargil, Jan 16: Tashi Namgyal, a local witness who reported the presence of the Pakistan Army in the Batalik sector during the Kargil War, passed away recently.
In his honour, the Indian Army built a memorial, which was inaugurated today by Major General K. Mahash, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 8th Division, Kargil.
The ceremony was attended by the Brigadier of the Tiger Hill Brigade, the family of Tashi Namgyal, and over a hundred local residents.
It is important to note that Tashi Namgyal, who made significant contributions during the 1999 Kargil War, was never formally recognized by the state or central government. However, the Indian Army has always supported him.
