Anantnag, Jan 25: The Anantnag Administration on Thursday organized a public outreach programme, a job fair, and cultural performances under the event ‘Jashn-e-Chillai-Kalan’ at Wazir Bagh Anantnag.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, District Information Officer (DIO) Anantnag, Burhan Hussain, said this was the first event of the year in the town on such a large scale, aiming to engage the public and inform them about various government schemes.
“The programme had two key components: a cultural segment that provided a platform for local artists and an awareness drive about government schemes. The idea was simple—we wanted to offer an opportunity for the people of Anantnag, who have been staying indoors due to the cold, to come out and participate in an engaging event. Apart from entertainment, the event allowed people to explore various government initiatives through dedicated stalls,” he said.
DIO said that the public outreach component of the event was particularly focused on youth-centric schemes.
“We put up stalls on youth-oriented initiatives, including Mission Youth and Mission Yuva, as well as schemes for agriculture, horticulture, and fisheries. Various departments set up stalls to showcase their offerings, allowing young people to interact with officials and learn about available opportunities,” he added.
He further said that several private companies and corporate firms were invited to the job fair, where they accepted applications from many job seekers. “We are hopeful that these companies will extend job offers to youngsters. Overall, we look forward to organizing more such events in Anantnag town and other parts of the district throughout the year,” he said.
The cultural performances featured artists, including Noor Mohammad, Ayyan Sajad, Ishfaq Kawa, Anil Chingari, and the traditional Band Pather.
