Kulgam, July 16: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan Wednesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of works being carried out under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 in the district.A statement issued here said that during the meeting, officers from the Jal Shakti department gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation, briefing the chair on the status of various water supply and infrastructure development projects approved under AMRUT 2.0. It was informed that in the four towns of Devsar, Kulgam, Frisal, and Yaripora, the total treated water requirement is 3.28 MGD (Million Gallons per Day), while the current availability stands at 1.489 MGD. The shortfall of 1.80 MGD is to be addressed through interventions under AMRUT 2.0. Officials further informed the chair that four water supply schemes have been approved under the mission, all of which have been allotted for execution at an estimated cost of Rs.14.62 crore. The identified water sources for these schemes include Nallah Veshow, Nallah Sonman and Shankarpaul Spring. DC instructed all implementing agencies to ensure regular monitoring, maintain transparency in execution, and fast-track the completion of AMRUT 2.0 projects for the benefit of the district’s urban population.He stated that the primary aim of AMRUT 2.0 is to provide universal access to functional household tap connections in all urban areas of the district. He added that the ongoing interventions under the scheme would significantly enhance urban water infrastructure and improve service delivery to the residents.
