JAMMU, July 04: The ongoing Amarnath Yatra, which commenced on July 1, has recorded its largest batch of pilgrims so far, as 6597 devotees embarked on the sacred journey to the holy Amarnath cave. The group left for Kashmir from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp early morning on Tuesday.
The traditional Pahalgam route remains the favoured path for most Amarnath yatris, as 4475 pilgrims commenced their pilgrimage from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp, traveling in 160 vehicles. Among the pilgrims, the group comprised 3294 men, 1008 women, 15 children, 149 sadhus, and nine sadhvis.
Another group of 2122 yatris commenced their holy pilgrimage from the Baltal route, departing from the Jammu Base Camp. The contingent consisted of 1681 males, 421 females, 18 children, and 02 Sadhus. Notably, no Sadhvi chose the Baltal route this time. The yatris departing from the Baltal route were transported in 93 vehicles from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp.
The Amarnath Yatra has witnessed an overwhelming response this year, with a record-breaking number of pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey. Yesterday, 4758 pilgrims left from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp, following 4903 yatris who embarked on the pilgrimage the day before yesterday.
The authorities have taken extensive measures to ensure the safety and comfort of the pilgrims during the Yatra. The increased enthusiasm among the devotees showcases the significance of the Amarnath Yatra in the spiritual and cultural landscape of the nation.
