Srinagar, March 22: The Health and Medical Education Department has informed the Jammu and Kashmir all the healthcare facilities in Chanapora constituency are functioning normally.
The information was provided in the Legislative Assembly in response to a starred question raised by MLA Mushtaq Ahmad Guroo on status of all the dispensaries functioning in the constituency. In response, the house was informed that the following facilities in the constituency are functioning properly: PHC Chanapora, PHC Laloo, PHC Nowgam, UHC Natipora, NTPHC Rawalpora, Sub Centre Rawalpora, Sub Centre Gungbugh, Sub Centre Hyderpora, Sub Centre Nadirgund, Sub Centre Peerbagh, and Sub Centre Sanatnagar. The services like OPD, IPD, immunization of children and pregnant mothers are provided to the general public in these dispensaries (PHC/NTPHC/SC/). Additionally, some PHCs, UHCs, and NTPHCs offer USG, X-ray, lab services, TB tests, and eye tests (ophthalmology). In response to another question on whether the department intends to open new dispensaries in the said constituency the response said as of now, the J&K government is working on the consolidation of existing health facilities, as more than 4200 health institutes at various levels (Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary) exist. J&K is among the top runners in health institution density in the country as per the MOHFW GOI, Report 2023. It said that no future creations/upgradations are planned as of now, which may be worked out once the austerity measures imposed by the Government in the Finance Department are withdrawn and critical gaps, if any, are brought to notice.
The reply said to fill the critical gaps, among other things, the department aims to strengthen the existing health facility strictly as per IPHS norms and extend support to the common man seeking medical attention by developing robust e-sanjeevani/tele-medicine facilities through a well-designed hub and spoke model.
