Srinagar, March 05: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has started the process to outsource Royal Spring Golf Course in Srinagar on Public Private Partnership mode and other properties in various parts of the UT.
As per the order issued by Managing Director JKTDC that Royal Spring Golf Course Srinagar is among the properties of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation Limited, which is proposed to be outsourced in Private Partnership mode (PPP).
It also has sought information on outsourcing Golf Course on a PPP mode from the Secretary of Royal Spring Golf Course Srinagar.
Spread over an area of 300 acres, the Royal Springs Golf Course is known as one of the largest and most beautiful golf courses in Asia.
The course features 18 holes, each of which is designed to be challenging yet enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels.
The order further reads that “In this context, it is informed that some properties of JKTDC and the Directorate of Tourism Jammu and Kashmir are proposed to be outsourced on a PPP mode. Royal Golf Course Spring has also been included in the list of outsourcing, it said.
It added, “now therefore, in order to above you are requested to kindly provide the information enclosed with this letter for our further necessary action.”
With regard to the land use plan, details sought to include the total plot area along with the following breakup; an area used for the golf course and ancillary facilities and; a surplus area available for fresh development.
Facilities available on site, practice range, pro shop, and training facilities; cafeteria, restaurant, and clubhouse capacity; ancillary sporting facilities like swimming pool, billiards, tennis, squash, etc.
Provision for accommodation inside the golf course and parking space available and any other commercial facilities within the golf course and membership of any golf associations like the Indian Golf Union, PGA etc. Size of the golf course highlighting its capacity (golf holes) etc, it said.
As per the orders, details are also sought on Past Performance Data – Property Specific that includes financial statements of the last five years including segmental revenues (like revenue from Membership Fee, F&B Revenues, etc.).
Royal Spring Golf Course was previously the Salim Ali National Park situated at the foothills of Zabarwan mountains overlooking Dal Lake and it is managed by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation, as a quasi-government institution.
It was commissioned in 2001 is designed by the American golfer Robert Trent Jones Jr. This Golf Course is also regarded as one of the most picturesque golf courses in Asia.
In 2012, first-ever women’s golf tournament conducted at Srinagar valley, was arranged in this course, which attracted more than 50 women golfers across India.
The golf course harbors a rare groove of cork oaks, planted by the last Dogra Maharaj, Hari Singh before 1947 and the plants were imported from Europe.
