Leh, April 11: The Union Territory of Ladakh has been honoured as the best performing Union Territory for its outstanding implementation of Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBUs) for children, at the Aadhaar Samvaad 2025 held in New Delhi.
Organised by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Aadhaar Samvaad is UIDAI’s annual flagship event that showcases innovation, excellence, and collaborative efforts within the Aadhaar ecosystem. The event serves as a platform to celebrate notable contributions in strengthening Aadhaar-related services across the country. The accolade highlights Ladakh’s exemplary performance in ensuring accurate and timely biometric enrolment for children—an essential measure to maintain an up-to-date Aadhaar database and secure every child’s digital identity.
The award was received by Ms Shashanka Ala, Secretary of the Information Technology Department, UT Ladakh, who represented the Union Territory at the event. In her remarks, she stated: “We are deeply honoured by this recognition. This achievement reflects the dedication and resilience of our teams on the ground. Facilitating biometric updates in a geographically challenging region like Ladakh is no small feat, and this honour reinforces our commitment to inclusive and accessible digital governance.” UIDAI officials commended Ladakh’s efforts, underscoring the vital role MBUs play in safeguarding children’s identities and enabling their seamless access to essential Aadhaar-linked services.
