Phase III of e-Courts project would transform Indian judicial system incredibly: C J Kotiswar

Jammu, May 31: Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, inaugurated a two-day e-Courts Phase III Regional Cluster Workshop for North Zone High Courts through virtual mode. The workshop, organised at the J&K Judicial Academy, Srinagar, was attended by delegates from the High Courts of Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Allahabad, as well as the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.
The Chief Justice virtually inaugurated the workshop from the Jammu wing of the High Court, alongside several esteemed members of the judiciary, including Justice Atul Sreedharan, Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Justice Sanjay Dhar, and Justice Rahul Bharti. Justice Sanjay Dhar graced the occasion in person, while others joined virtually from the Jammu Wing of the High Court.
In his inaugural address, Chief Justice Kotiswar Singh highlighted the transformative impact of the e-Courts project on the judicial system, emphasizing its role in enhancing efficiency and transparency. He underscored the significance of technological advancements in facilitating seamless judicial proceedings, citing the adoption of Case Information System, digitization, e-filing, and e-payment as notable examples.
Justice Sanjay Dhar, Member of the IT Committee, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, provided insights into the historical development of the e-Courts project and its potential to revolutionize the justice delivery system. He commended the efforts of Justice Badar Durez Ahmad, former Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh, in advancing e-Courts initiatives within the region.
Joint Secretary of the Department of Justice, Government of India, P.P Pandey, addressed the inaugural session from New Delhi, lauding the stakeholders for their contributions to the e-Courts project. He expressed optimism about the transformative impact of Phase III of the project and assured continued support from the Government of India.
Arulmozhi Selvi, Member (Human Resources) of the E-Committee, Supreme Court of India, highlighted the importance of organizing workshops to disseminate technological advancements and project requirements among stakeholders.
The event, graced by several dignitaries including the Advocate General, Deputy Solicitor General, and Registrars from various High Courts, was conducted under the supervision of Director of the J&K Judicial Academy, Y.P. Bourney. Anoop Kumar Sharma, Registrar Computers (IT) cum Central Project Coordinator, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, delivered the vote of thanks.
The proceedings of the workshop were livestreamed on the YouTube channel of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, ensuring wider accessibility and dissemination of information.
