JAMMU, May 02: Family members of the deceased, killed in a scuffle over land dispute in Greater Kailash area of Jammu, along with hundreds of people Thursday blocked Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Gangyal demanding stern action against the accused.

After the incident, the Incharge of Police Post, Greater Kailash, Puneet Sharma was suspended, while the SHO was attached.

One Avtar Singh son of Balbir Singh, a resident of Kalu Chak, was attacked by a group of people in the presence of police over a land dispute on Tuesday evening after which he died.

The protesters raised slogans like, “We want justice” and demanded strict action against the culprits.

Seven persons, including Ravinder Kumar alias Gola Shah have been arrested. Gola has been booked under Public Safety Act.

The protestors alleged that “several officials are hand-in-glove with the land mafia.”
“We want that the culprits should be hanged to death and the properties of land mafia must be attached and bulldozed like the UP government is doing,” they said.

The protestors appealed to the administration to intervene in delivering justice to them.

More arrests are underway as facts are coming to light, said police, adding that the notorious land mafia has been tracked down and booked accordingly for their role in the conspiracy.
