Srinagar, Nov 24: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir organised an awareness-cum-distribution program on multi-nutrient block (MNB) supplements for ruminant livestock for the dairy farmers of district Srinagar.
The awareness was organised by the SKUAST-K’s Division of Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences at the Faculty Outreach Centre, Shuhama and sponsored by the NABARD under the research project, ‘Enhancing livelihood of dairy farmers in Srinagar through productivity augmentation by standardization and popularization of multi-nutrient block supplements for animal feeding’. The aim of the program was to create awareness among livestock farmers about the use and importance of MNB.
Multi-nutrient blocks prepared by the Animal Nutrition Division under the said project were also distributed on the occasion free of cost among the twenty dairy farmers of block Srinagar of district Srinagar. Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi inaugurated the program and emphasized the importance of balanced feeding. Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof Mohammad Tufaul Banday threw light on the use of supplements in animal feed for improving animal productivity. Head of the Division, Prof Abdul Majeed Ganai highlighted the activities of the Division. Dr Yasir Afzal Beigh, Principal Investigator of the project highlighted the overview of the research project funded by NABARD.
