Ganderbal, Apr 22: Residents and commuters in Dumkadal to Barosa in Tulmullah, Central Kashmir, are grappling with the dire condition of a major link road, affecting daily travel and posing safety risks.
The road, spanning 3 kilometers, serves as a crucial artery connecting various tourist spots, religious sites, and educational institutions, including the revered Kheerbhawani temple and the Central University of Kashmir.
Local residents have voiced their concerns over the deteriorating state of the road, emphasizing the urgent need for macadamization to alleviate the challenges faced by both pedestrians and drivers. One student, reliant on the route for her daily commute to the Central University, highlighted the difficulties encountered, particularly during rainfall, and urged the government to expedite repairs.
Shabir Ahmad, Assistant Executive Engineer of PMGSY Ganderbal, acknowledged the issue of waterlogging along a particular section of the road and assured that a proposal for constructing a drainage system has been submitted for approval.
He emphasized ongoing efforts to address the waterlogging problem swiftly, reaffirming the commitment to ensuring safe and accessible road infrastructure for all.
