In a first of its kind, Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort hosted a series of events under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) to increase the voter turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Hundreds of tourists and locals have clicked pictures at the selfie point today, which was set up at the high peak in Afarwat, Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Menga Sherpa said while talking to the media persons on the sidelines of the function.
The events were held at several venues including Khilan Marg, Kongdori, Afarwat which is the highest peak in Gulmarg. “Gulmarg has sent a message to the whole country about the participation in Lok Sabha elections for which the dates have already been issued and the preparations are going on,” he said. UT Media Nodal Officer for general Elections, Sapna Kotwal while speaking to the media persons said that the Baramulla district has earned a name today as the event at such a high altitude was held today to create awareness among the masses about participation in the elections.
“The famous destination has served a platform today for creating awareness about participation in polls,” she said. Pertinently, the event featured a range of activities such as snow skiing, skating, snow biking, snow cricket, and more.
