Protect rights of consumers: Director FCS&CA to deptt

JAMMU, DEC 24: Stressing that the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs has a very important role to play in protecting the rights of the consumers, the Director, FCS&CA on Saturday advised the staff members of the department to perform their duties with regard to the protection of consumer rights with full zeal and enthusiasm.
He said this while addressing a seminar organized by the FCS&CA Department Jammu on the theme “Effective disposal of cases in consumer commission” here in connection with “National Consumer Day- 2022”.
The program was presided over by Director, FCS&CA, Jammu Dr. Naseem Javaid Choudhary. Among others present were Dr. Javed Iqbal, Deputy Director (F/R); Seema Parihar, Deputy Director (Supplies); Akhter Hussain, Chief Accounts Officer; Mohammad Sagir, Assistant Director, Trade & Store; Alka Misra, Assistant Director, City Circle-II & Mills and other officials and staff of Directorate. D R Danish, President, Consumer Protection Organization and other members were present on the occasion.
In his address, the Director, FCS&CA Department highlighted the rights of the consumer and said they also have some responsibilities and duties like passing on the information (or) knowledge of a product (or) service to their fellow consumers for making them aware. 
Earlier, Baijnath, Assistant Legal Remembrance, (Public Law Officer) and Monika Kohli (Prosecutor), FCS&CA Department elaborated on the importance of National Consumer Day and Consumer Rights. Other speakers from the Directorate also presented their views on the subject. 
The Department of FCS&CA observed the National Consumer Day 2022 in other district headquarters also. A series of program-cum-awareness camps were organized and would continue for a week in all districts of the Jammu Division.
