Efforts on to achieve Carbon Neutral Panchayats in Doda

Doda, Dec 04: Four Solar Water Geysers of 500 litres for community use were inaugurated on Sunday at Bijarni Lower-B Panchayat of Block Bhagwah, as part of the government’s endeavour of achieving Carbon Neutral Panchayats.
Assistant Commissioner Development Doda Phulail Singh inaugurated the facility during an inspection tour of the area. The ACD impressed upon the Block Development Officer to replicate this initiative in other Panchayats to achieve the goal of clean, green and carbon-neutral panchayats by shifting to solar energy consumption.
A public grievances redressal camp was held in the panchayat ghar, which was attended by BDO Bhagwah Shabir Ahmed, Sarpanch  Omkar Singh Rana, Other PRI members, Staff of Rural Development Department, general Public and PMAY (G) beneficiaries.
During the programme, the grievances of the public were redressed and PMAY sanction letters of installments were also distributed among the beneficiaries. The ACD impressed upon the field staff to monitor the execution of all works under MGNREGA, Capex grants, and PMAY (G) scheme. The beneficiaries were instructed to complete the houses before the onset of snowfall so that the left-out installments are also paid to them. The field staff was directed to generate demands of all PMAY beneficiaries under MGNREGA so that 95 days of wage employment is also provided to them along with the IHHL unit under SBM.
The ACD also inspected ongoing works under MGNREGA, Area Development Grants. The door-to-door collection of plastic waste was also started in the Panchayat and the public of the area was informed about the Swachh gram initiative of the government. The sarpanch and other PRIs assured that they shall strive to achieve the target of swach and carbon neutral panchayat as the first panchayat in the district.
