Danish Javid, a gifted 10th-grade student from the serene village of Machipora in Handwara, has been chosen to participate in the esteemed Sakura Exchange Programme’s Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Programme in Science. This extraordinary achievement not only brings great honor to Danish but also shines a light on the entire district.
Amid fierce competition from thousands of candidates across the country, Danish Javid’s selection stood out due to his groundbreaking creation—a versatile, multipurpose stove. Showcased at the illustrious National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC), Danish’s project received widespread recognition and appreciation.
The Sakura Exchange Programme, renowned for fostering international cooperation and cultural exchange in the fields of science and technology, offers young minds from different nations a unique platform to interact, collaborate, and learn from each other’s scientific advancements. By promoting mutual understanding, it builds lasting bonds of friendship.
Danish’s family expressed their joy and pride at their son’s remarkable achievement. They highlighted his longstanding interest in such endeavors and his exceptional creativity from a young age.
As the youngest of three siblings and a student at Government Boys High School, Danish drew inspiration for his model stove from his local surroundings. He observed the contribution of traditional chimneys and stoves used in Kashmir to air pollution, which ignited his innovative journey to create a multipurpose stove.
Guided by his mentor, Abbas, Danish meticulously developed and refined his model. Danish expressed heartfelt gratitude to Abbas, recalling how their research and development process took them to various places.
Despite facing financial constraints, Danish’s determination and resilience prevailed. While his father worked tirelessly as a tractor driver, government funding alleviated the financial burden and paved the way for Danish’s success.
Abbas Ahmed Gojree, a science teacher at Government Upper Primary School in Machipora, recognized Danish’s immense potential and acknowledged the crucial role played by Danish’s father in supporting his remarkable journey. Witnessing Danish’s ingenuity firsthand, Abbas witnessed the birth of the multipurpose stove concept. Together, they transformed the idea into a reality, leaving an indelible mark in history.
Having nurtured Danish’s academic growth during their time together at middle school, Abbas always saw the spark of potential within him, destined to lead to extraordinary achievements.
Danish Javid’s selection for the Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Programme in Science is a testament to his passion, hard work, and innovative thinking. His story serves as an inspiration to other young students in the district, highlighting the power of determination and the opportunities that arise from scientific exploration. Danish’s journey exemplifies how dedication, support, and resourcefulness can overcome obstacles and lead to extraordinary accomplishments.
