SKUAST-K advances academic frontiers with visionary initiatives in 43rd Academic Council Meeting

Srinagar, Jan 22: In a groundbreaking development, the 43rd Academic Council meeting convened at SKUAST-K’s Shalimar Campus, spearheaded by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, witnessed a convergence of intellectual minds from diverse academic backgrounds. Directors, Officers, Deans of Faculties/Colleges, and nominated members from sister universities of UT of J&K, along with esteemed academicians and scientists, including Prof. Masoodi, Prof. Mushtaq Lone, and Prof. Bhadwal, contributed to the dynamic discussions that unfolded.
The meeting commenced with Prof. T. H Masoodi, the Registrar, presenting an overview of the academic accomplishments, paving the way for a discourse on groundbreaking ideas in Agriculture and Allied Sciences. These encompassed ongoing and forthcoming initiatives, including skill-oriented and economy-friendly courses integrated into the University’s academic curriculum.
Central to the deliberations were key thrust areas, highlighting the establishment of the School of Advanced Applied Biosciences, introducing UG & PG Degrees in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Agro-Chemistry, and more. The proposed creation of the School of One Health, the Division of Poultry Science, and the Directorate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship showcased a commitment to diversifying academic pursuits.
Noteworthy proposals included several new courses aligned with the NEP-2020 Guidelines, aimed at updating the course curriculum and ensuring academic relevance. The meeting concluded with the approval of these proposals, signaling a transformative phase for SKUAST-K in sync with the evolving educational landscape.
At the heart of the discourse was an inclusive academic wisdom, as the scientific fraternity contributed innovative ideas for upcoming academic ventures. Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, in his capacity as the Honorable Vice Chancellor, underscored the university’s futuristic role and envisioned new courses and degrees tailored for the agriculture sector in line with Viksit Bharat @2047.
The meeting concluded on an amicable note, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing academic frontiers and shaping the future of education at SKUAST-K.
