Two days 25th District Jammu Taekwondo Championship concludes

Jammu, Feb 19: Closing ceremony of two days 25th District Jammu Taekwondo Championships held on Sunday at Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha Parade, Jammu.
The Championship was held under the emblem of My Youth My Pride and was organized by District Jammu Taekwondo Association under the aegis of J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA).
The competition was comprised of all age divisions with inclusion of the youngest age division (Pee Wee). The final day witnessed a massive combative skill show between the Senior and Junior Athlete’s in both male and female categories. More than 150 players participated in different weight categories out of them 20 Orphan athletes were sponsored by J&K Taekwondo Association.
The opening ceremony was addressed by Subash Shashtri (President,NMS) as Chief Guest with the demonstration of Taekwondo fights by young Boys and Girls of different Clubs.
The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was shri. Shiv Kumar (Maharaj Ranjeet Singh Awardee, Commonwealth Medalist) accompanied by Ramesh Chander Sharma (President, DJTA) as Guest of honour.
While speaking on the auspicious occasion he congratulated all the medallists and participants for taking part in the said championship and also applauded the District Taekwondo Association for uplifting the Taekwondo sport in the district. District Jammu Taekwondo Association felicitated Shri Danish Manzoor (Fit India Ambassador)during the closing ceremony.
Shiv Kumar along with the other dignitaries distributed medals among all the medalist’s and momento of honour were given to Coaches/ Referees also.
Special Guests on the occasion were Anuj Sharma (Org.Sec, JKTA), Zaheer Abbas (Sher-i-Kashmir Awardee), Vinod Grewal (National Referee), Brinder Singh Manhas(TD, JKTA),Vikas Sangra (Engineer) , Amit Sharma (Engineer) and Mitin Baru.
All the Gold and Silver Medalists will represent District Jammu in the forthcoming J&K UT Championship.
