Baramulla, July 01: The doctors at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla have been delivering exceptional medical services and going the extra mile to serve the people of north Kashmir, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent said on Saturday – on the occasion of Doctors’ Day.
Dr Parvez Masoodi said several groundbreaking surgeries and critical care procedures have recently taken place at the hospital, highlighting the commitment of the medical staff towards their profession and the well-being of their patients.
Shedding light on the significant achievements of doctors at GMC Baramulla, the Medical Superintendent said that one of the achievements was the successful laparoscopic-assisted resection of a large intestine tumor. This minimally invasive surgical procedure, led by the skilled medical team, showcased their proficiency in advanced techniques.
“The implementation of a dual-chamber pacemaker in newer GMCs provided a much-needed medical facility for the people of north Kashmir, eliminating the necessity of traveling to other locations for such procedures,” he said.
Dr Parvez said that the hospital’s orthopedic department has also made remarkable progress, performing total knee replacement surgeries and reconstructing maxillofacial trauma cases with precision. “These complex operations required the expertise of the dedicated orthopedic and maxillofacial surgical teams, who ensured successful outcomes and improved the quality of life for the patients,” he said.
Furthermore, the hospital’s neurosurgery department demonstrated its proficiency in treating subdural hematoma and performing drainage procedures promptly and effectively.
The utilization of the new life-saving drug Tenecteplase for thrombolysis procedures in heart attack cases also marked a significant advancement in cardiac care.
The Medical Superintendent emphasized the hospital’s commitment to providing expensive drugs like tenecteplase free of cost for patients in need. He acknowledged the hospital’s achievement in diagnosing and treating rare cardiovascular diseases, such as aortic dissection, in a timely manner.
With advanced diagnostic tools and highly skilled medical professionals, GMC Baramulla has become a center for identifying and managing serious cardiovascular conditions effectively. Moreover, the hospital’s orthopedic department successfully performed a challenging and unprecedented fracture dislocation hip surgery, using an anterior acetabulum approach.
In another significant development, GMC Baramulla inaugurated a state-of-the-art Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) Centre and Gymnasium. “This comprehensive facility caters to the specific needs of post-trauma, post-stroke, orthopedic, and congenital ortho patients, providing advanced equipment and specialized care for their rehabilitation and recovery,” Dr Parvez said and commended his team of doctors on Doctors’ Day for their unwavering commitment and earnestness. He expressed congratulations to them for their dedication and sincerity in providing medical care.
Dr Masoodi hoped that a multitude of advanced surgeries would be conducted in the upcoming days.
