Jammu, July 29: Secretary JKAACL Bharat Singh (JKAS) on Saturday said that the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages is committed to organising theatre-related activities across the union territory.
He was speaking at the JKAACL’s two-day nukkad play festival in collaboration with Pahari Rangmanch Theatre Group which concluded at Government Boys Pahari Hostel in Rajouri.
The play festival was specially organised for aspiring students, the theatre-loving people. The general audience also participated.
On the occasion, Singh said, “In the history of Jammu theatre, JKAACL has organised such an ‘Open Theatre’ event for the very first time in district Rajouri. The theatre-related activities will be given due recognition at par with other cultural and literary activities. It will be a continuous affair and to make it more vibrant in terms of its promotion and development, the JKAACL is paying special attention to making it regular activity through weekly Nukkad Theatre series for the whole of the year in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.”
During the inauguration day on Friday, District Social Welfare Officer Wakil Bhat (JKAS) was the chief guest while Hamid Malik, Rajinder Sharma, Warden and Assistant Warden, Pahari Hostel were the guests of honour.
On the concluding day, Vinod Gupta, a prominent social activist was the chief guest while Mohd Akram was the guest of honour.
Wakil Bhat in his address appreciated the work of the academy while Vinod Gupta stressed upon organising such kinds of activities for youngsters and society to sensitise people of the ill effects of consuming drugs.
Sahil Mehra, Ashish Bhasin and Amandeep Singh presented a musical recital during the concluding ceremony. The theatre groups who gave scintillating performances in this first-ever nukkad festival include Vishal Pahari Rangmanch theatre group Rajouri and Himalayan Cultural Club.
