5-day course on Semiconductors conclude at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 20: The 5-day Short Term Course (STC) titled “Journey of semiconductor Physics to smart devices to intelligent automation” concluded on Monday at Department of Physics at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
The STC program consists of talks by eminent speakers in the field of semiconductors and has received around 350 registrations.
HoD Physics Prof M A Shah was the chairperson of the five-day-long scientific event.
The valedictory function was presided over by Director NIT Srinagar (Dr.) Prof. Rakesh Sehgal. Dr. M J Zarabi, Ex-Chairperson BOG NIT Srinagar, and Prof A M Wani, Ex-Director NIT Srinagar were special invitees on the occasion.
Prof Sehgal informed participants about the significance of semiconductors in the modern world and present urgency of innovation in this field.
He appreciated the physics department faculty for taking these initiatives to educate the youth about the importance of semiconductor devices.
In his message, Institute’s Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said over the past few years, significant research efforts have been devoted to improving the efficiencies of semiconductor materials across the globe.
He said the course was aimed to touch various aspects of the growing technology including working principles of semiconductors, the latest advances, and future devices.
“NIT Srinagar will be conducting such events in the future also,” Prof. Bukhari said.
On the 5th day of the Course, Prof. Shobhna Shukla from IIT Bombay delivered his lecture on “Methods of Microscale and Nanoscale Patterning for Semiconductors”.
He presented his research in the field of Nanoscale Photonics and Devices.
The valedictory session was solemnized in presence of Dr. M J Zarabi, Ex-Chairperson of BOG NIT Srinagar, and Prof A M Wani, Ex-Director NIT Srinagar.
Both speakers appreciated the efforts of NIT Srinagar and hoped that it will continue to touch the skies in near future. The response to the session was very positive.
The winners of the Quiz cum worksheet test were also announced which was topped by Reba Ashraf, B Tech Ist semester student.
