Baramulla, March 07: A shopping complex and two houses were damaged in a fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon in Dangerpora village and Bomai Sopore, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Mohammad Akbar, a Fire & Emergency Services official told Rising Kashmir that fire started in Abdul Majeed Banday’s building in Dangerpora, and the fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the area.
“Despite the congested area, locals and the fire department worked tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. However, a residential building atop the commercial building was gutted in the blaze,” he said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but the officials suspect it could be due to a short circuit.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, the official said. However, the extent of the damage caused by the fire is still being assessed, he added.
In another incident, two houses in Bomai Sopore were severely damaged in a fire incident.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, and locals have been urged to take preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
