Awantipora, Jun 4: Syed Mantaqui Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology (SMMCN&MT), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), observed World No Tobacco Day 2026 at Government Middle School, Brakpora, as part of its outreach programme under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
Coordinated by Mubashir Bashir, In-charge SMMCN&MT, and Nighat Gowhar, Faculty, the programme focused on this year’s theme, “Unmasking the Appeal – Countering Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction.”
The nursing faculty and students conducted awareness activities highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and encouraging participants to adopt a tobacco-free lifestyle.
The programme concluded with a pledge by students and participants to stay away from tobacco products and promote healthier communities. The initiative was well received by the school authorities and participants.
