Srinagar, July 18: Thieves stormed a house in the Natipora chowk of Srinagar on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, making off with several items, including a copper water tank, two geysers, six water tap mixers, water taps, and other valuables They also damaged archive files of the Rising Kashmir newspaper.
According to the affected family members, “Their house had been vacant for some time, and no one was residing there.” They stated that the thieves damaged the wall of the house, stole valuable items, office files and also caused damage to the archives of the Rising Kashmir newspaper.
Hafiz Eijaz, one of the family members, reported that their house in Natipora chowk was looted, “With a significant number of valuables stolen by the thieves.” He mentioned that they have reported the incident to the nearest police station and remain hopeful that the culprits will be held soon.
Meanwhile, a police officer informed Rising Kashmir that there were no CCTV cameras installed in the locality. “An investigation into the case has been launched, and several suspects have been questioned.” The officer added that they are hopeful about cracking the case soon.
