Two fraudsters held in Handwara

Police on Wednesday have arrested two fraudsters for defrauding a shopkeeper & recovered the property fraudulently gained by them in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

 

A Police spokesperson said, “On 30/04/2023, Police Station Handwara received a complaint from a shopkeeper to the effect that two persons purchased some electronic items from his shop at Handwara Market and fled from the shop without making any payment.”

 

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 99/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation was initiated.”

 

“Acting swiftly, following leads developed during investigation including statements of witnesses and technical evidences, the accused persons involved in the commission of crime were arrested. They have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Yousuf and Noor Mohd Khan son of Wali Mohd Khan, both residents of Zaloora Sopore”, he said.

 

The spokesperson said that on their disclosure, electronic items fraudulently taken by them including 01 refrigerator, 01 washing machine, 01 solar panel and 01 inverter battery were recovered.

 

Further investigation into the case is going on to ascertain further involvement of the accused persons in other criminal cases.
