Pulwama, May 27: A smuggler was on Saturday apprehended while ferrying forest wood from Romeshi range of forests in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Officials from forest department said that 2 horses used in the commission of crime were also seized.
Ghulam Nabi, Ranger, Romeshi Forest Range said that after receiving specific information about timber smugglers in the outskirts of district pulwama , a Joint party of Sangerwani, Namblan, Keller and Zampathri blocks led by block forest officer Sangerwani laid a naka at a particular spot during which two horses loaded with illicit timber were seized and a smuggler was apprehend who was handed over to Police Station Keller.
“Around 15 CFs of smuggled wood has been recovered from the spot,” forest officials said.
They added that a case has been registered at Police Station Keller under relevant sections of IPC and IFA.
