Srinagar, June 2: Apni Party General Secretary and former MLA Rafi Ahmad Mir on Tuesday called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar and raised several issues of public importance, especially issues related to tourism, livelihoods, and development.

During the meeting, Mir reiterated his request for the reopening of the closed tourist destinations across the valley and also appealed to the LG Sinha to intervene to ensure Apple Valley route, a scenic stretch of road from Bijbehara to Pahalgam, is thrown open for the tourists.

Rafi Ahmad Mir also brought a range of public issues and grievances to the notice of the Lieutenant Governor and urged the immediate redressal of these concerns.

He further appealed to him to ensure that the local population is provided with adequate opportunities to carry out their traditional occupations during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra period, as many families depend entirely on tourism and the annual Amarnath pilgrimage for their livelihood.

He said that the local population has always played an important role in the smooth conduct of the Yatra. Mir also discussed several developmental issues and sought the LG’s intervention to ensure that public interests are adequately safeguarded.
