Budgam, July 21: Prominent political figure Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) embarked on an extensive tour of the Chadoora constituency on Thursday to connect with the people and review arrangements for the upcoming Muharram.
During his visit, he actively engaged with the public, listened to their grievances and assured them of his commitment to finding solutions for their pressing concerns.
“At the Imambarah of Chattergam, the people expressed their discontent with the current Muharram arrangements,” Mir said in a statement.
Promptly acknowledging their grievances, Zaffer conveyed the issues to the SDM Chadoora and Tehsil Magistrate and advocated for improving the arrangements to ensure a smooth observance of the religious gatherings.
In response to Zaffer’s request, Tehsildar BK Pora promptly visited SK Bagh to address the highlighted issues raised by Zaffer and his team, demonstrating the influence and impact of political leaders in advocating for their constituents, the statement said.
Zaffer also visited Suthsoo-Kalan, Malik Gund, and S K Bagh where he continued to interact with the people. Displaying patience and attentiveness, he listened to their concerns and promised to bring them to the attention of the administration for timely resolution.
Addressing the public at various locations, Zaffer emphasized the need to prioritize issues related to Muharram at the earliest. He assured the public that after the gatherings, he would diligently work with the administration to tackle other pending matters.
During his interactions, Zaffer revealed that he has already submitted a request to allow a procession in Srinagar city for this year’s Muharram. Expressing optimism, he said that the LG administration will hopefully grant the necessary permissions, respecting the community’s religious sentiments.
One notable issue brought to Zaffer’s attention was the alleged neglect of the ward falling under Halqa of Dooniwara. “The residents of Malik Gund expressed their dissatisfaction, claiming that no funds have been allocated to the ward for the past decade due to the dominance of the NC’s former MLA, who allegedly redirected funds to his own hometown,” Mir said, adding, “Additionally, the absence of basic amenities and facilities in their ward was a cause for concern for the people residing in Halka Dooniwara. It was pointed out that the daughter-in-law of the NC’s former MLA/MLC is also the DDC member of erstwhile PAGD.”
Meanwhile, Zaffer along with senior political leader Ghulam Nabi Mir (Lasjan), personally visited the family of late Advocate Gh Mohidin Hakim at Zolva, Gopalpora Chadoora to offer their condolences.
