Jammu, June 23: A deputation of Apni Party leaders on Friday called on Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Rajeev Kumar Sharma and submitted a memorandum of demands regarding the upgradation of the healthcare system in various hospitals.
The deputation, as per a party statement, comprised District Vice President, Jammu Urban, Vaibhav Mattoo and Provincial Secretary, Youth Wing, Vishal Jotshi and others, who met Dr Rajeev at his office here.
During their meeting, they informed that the Government Sarwal Hospital was opened with a motive to reduce the burden on the Government Medical College and Hospital Bakshi Nagar and equally share the responsibility of taking care of the patients at the Government Sarwal Hospital Jammu.
However, things are going quite the opposite because the OPD works as usual but thereafter, other facilities are not provided, but people have to move to GMC Jammu or other hospitals, they said.
They complained that after the closing of OPD, only gynae doctor remains available in the hospital whereas other services get closed that need to be checked and the medical care in different wings needs to be provided in the hospital. “The patients are referred to the GMC Jammu which is against the core value of the hospital which is also within the city to cater to the surrounding population,” they added while highlighting the issues.
They demanded that all kinds of medical services including ECG, etc should be provided to the patients even after the OPD gets closed.
Meanwhile, the deputation also highlighted the issues of Vijaypur Hospital “where an ultrasound machine does not work and one eye-surgeon was also posted in the said hospital”. Unfortunately, the only eye-surgeon has been attacked at the Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, they said.
They demanded the eye-surgeon who has been attached to Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu should be sent back to his place of posting in the said Vijaypur Hospital. They also demanded a blood bank at Vijaypur Accidental Hospital.
“24 posts were sanctioned for the Vijaypur Accidental Hospital but nine posts are still vacant,” they said and demanded the posting of the required number of doctors including the dental surgeon and physician surgeon.
