SRINAGAR, May 25: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested six alleged drug peddlers in separate anti-narcotics operations in Baramulla, Pulwama and Anantnag districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Baramulla district, police arrested two persons during naka checking and patrolling operations in Uri and Kamalkote areas. Officials said around 60.5 grams of charas and 29 grams of charas-like substance were recovered from the accused.

In Pulwama, police intercepted a scooty at Parigam Khalsa and arrested two alleged drug peddlers after recovering approximately 273 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession.

Meanwhile, in Anantnag district, police recovered 6.566 kilograms of ganja-like substance from a man arrested at Sakhras Crossing Chowk in Srigufwara. In another operation near Tangpawa Petrol Pump in Kokernag, police intercepted a vehicle and recovered a brown sugar-like substance concealed inside the dashboard, leading to the arrest of the driver.

Police said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

The police also reiterated their commitment to tackling drug trafficking and appealed to the public to share information related to narcotics activities in their areas.
