Seeks Fast-Track Trial

SRINAGAR, May 25: Leaders and workers of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on Monday staged a protest demonstration and candlelight vigil in Srinagar against the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in Budgam district, demanding strict punishment for those involved in the crime.

The protest was led by the party’s Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir, who condemned the incident and termed it a “crime against humanity”.

Holding placards and candles, the protesters expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and called for speedy justice.

Speaking during the protest, Mir said the brutal killing had shaken society and highlighted the urgent need for stronger measures to ensure the safety of children and women. He demanded a fast-track trial in the case and sought exemplary punishment for the accused.

The party leaders said such incidents have deeply wounded the conscience of society and stressed that justice must be delivered without delay. They also appealed to society to unite against violence and crimes targeting children and women.
