Baramulla, Dec 25: In an ongoing effort to eliminate the scourge of drugs from north Kashmir, the police in Baramulla have successfully apprehended a drug peddler, confiscating contraband substances from his possession.
A police officer said that a police team from Kunzer, led by SHO PS Kunzer, conducted a checkpoint operation at Ganiwani Kunzer, where they intercepted a person.
“Upon a thorough search, 115 grams of Charas-like contraband substance were discovered in his possession,” he said, adding that the arrested person has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Dar, resident of Ganiwani Kunzer.
The officer said the drug smuggler was taken into custody and transferred to police station Kunzer. He said a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Kunzer, and investigations have been initiated.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of drug peddling or other criminal activities. “Citizens are urged to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112 in such situations,” he said.
“We seek cooperation from the people in curbing the menace of drugs and assure that strict legal action will be taken against criminals,” the police officer said.
